Matilde de Oliveira Roque is a Portuguese artist based in London, UK. Her practice centres on the manipulation of oil paint to play with the tension between an empirical descriptive tendency and a more open calligraphic quality. Through a visual language which dissolves the definitions of abstraction and figuration, her paintings reflect on our experience of and relationship with time.
